In the UK the ptrol price is around £1.48 (GBP) per 1.25 litre (source: http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuel/) - in dollars that makes it around $2.93 (USD) - or $1.74 extra in 4 years (hint: over half). Sucks really!

Just cut back on your spending and car use. Everyone will do that, because of the recession, then the price will come down. We really ought to investigate nuclear power as a medium term solution. Wind and wave won't do.
